MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Raheem Richardson was sentenced to one year behind bars Wednesday. He’s charged in the Kroger attack, but this sentencing had nothing to do with that.
It turns out Richardson was charged in January for assaulting a security guard. The judge let him off on probation in a program called Diversion.
But when officers charged him in the Kroger mob attack, he went back behind bars.
Wednesday, Judge Louis Montesi ordered Richardson serve one year for that January assault, but it will not affect the Kroger case.
A grand jury will now decide if Richardson will be indicted on the September attack for charges of aggravated assault, and aggravated riot. If he is found guilty in that case, any extra charges will be added onto the one year sentence.
Tuesday, ten of the other kids charged in the case all plead guilty. Eight of them will do community service, two others are now in DCS custody for rehabilitation.
