MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One of the teenagers seen in a video attacking four people at a Memphis Kroger is being investigated again.
Stanley Self pleaded guilty this week for being involved in the attack.
Now the District Attorney’s Office is trying to find out if Self is in a picture on social media, flashing the middle finger and with what appears to be a gun in his pocket.
The picture was posted October 24, which is days before he entered the plea deal.
In court, Self told WREG he would never get in trouble again.
“I learned from all this. When I see bad things go on, I should go another way,” he said.
Randall Fishman is an attorney for one of the victims in the Kroger attack.
“I know if I were the judge, I would be irritated when I saw that,” Fishman said. “I mean, it’s kind of like a slap in the face.”
A spokesperson with the DA’s office said they got the photo Thursday, and they’re looking into it.
A lot of the investigation is happening on Facebook and social media, because that’s where the photo was posted.
Investigators are trying to find out if that’s Self in the photo, if the gun is real, and when the photo was taken.
Depending on what they find, Self could be back in court with new charges.
As part of the plea deal, Stanley will be on probation until next August, he’ll have to do 40 days of community service, write a letter of apology to the victims, and follow a curfew.
