Teenage girl shot and killed at Foote Homes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police are looking for suspects following a deadly shooting in the Foote Homes housing project.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was shot and killed just after 11 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Vance Ave. near Danny Thomas Blvd.

The girl was initially taken to the Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition, but she died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police say several hours earlier, they found a group of females fighting in the same area with bats.

The fight was broken up.

A short time later a male showed up at the hospital saying he was in a car at Foote Homes and was caught in the middle of the fight and was shot in the arm.

He is in non-critical condition.

They’re asking witnesses to come forward by calling Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.

Friday night, a 17-year-old was shot and killed on the playground at Frayser Elementary School.

Police say it happened around 6:45 p.m. with children nearby.

Foote Homes is the city’s last remaining public housing project.

Residents, there are in the process of being moved out, and the area will be redeveloped.
