MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Neighbors had no idea Robby Wooten had been to their neighbor’s home.
Police said Tuesday morning at 8 am he pushed his way in the Frayser home and pulled his 17-year old ex-girlfriend from the shower, hitting and kicking her and beating her mother.
Just last Thursday he was in jail, locked up for allegedly stopping his car on Frayser Blvd and forcing the same teen inside as she walked to school at the Memphis Business Academy.
Police said he wanted to see her cellphone text messages, but when she refused he allegedly beat her and pulled out a gun.
Over the weekend neighbors told WREG it was unimaginable.
But she had dealt with it before.
At the end of July police documents said Wooten was at the house, and reportedly grabbed the teen’s step-father by the neck, forced him to the ground before grabbing and attacking the girl.
District Attorney Amy Weirich’s office said they kept asking he be held with no bond, but the magistrate continues letting him out.
“That is not the system we need in our city, something is not working,” said Deborah Clubb with the Memphis Area Women’s Council.
Clubb said they’re always encouraging women not to take abuse, and report when they’re being hurt, but clearly this is an example where going for help didn’t do much good
“Nobody’s connecting the dots to keep him off the street,” said Clubb.
