MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Fox Meadows neighborhood is on high alert after a teenage girl woke up to a peeping tom.

It happened Sunday morning around 5:30 on Wayfarer Circle off South Mendenhall near Winchester.

“She knocked on my door, and she told me. We looking out for each other because we have daughters,” said Renee Malone.

Her next-door neighbor called police claiming a man was peeping into her teenage daughter’s bedroom.

“Her daughter, she said that she had seen a shadow in her window and said it was a tall, black guy in her window,” said Malone.

The victim’s mother rushed into the room when she heard the cries, and told officers she saw the man running away into her apartment complex.

“He could stay over here. We don’t know that,” said Malone.

What tenants do know, is this isn’t the first incident that’s left them feeling uneasy.

MPD Cyberwatch shows at least 20 crimes reported in or outside Cedar Hills Apartments in the past three months including forcible fondling during a burglary.

There was also an exhibitionist reported where neighbors told WREG a man got naked in front of kids.

“I will probably keep a better lookout watching people out here, because, like I said, this world, Memphis is getting crazy,” said tenant Paris Westmoreland.

WREG reached out to management, but have yet to hear back.

We did spot cameras posted around the place, and a hole in the fence feet from where the peeping Tom lurked.

“Figured I’d do something about it,” said Malone.

She took matters into her own hands and placed furniture against her daughters’ windows until this guy is caught.

“I have three daughters I am trying to keep safe,” she said.

The peeping Tom’s description is vague.

Police said they are still gathering evidence.

No word if the security cameras captured anything.
