CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Three teenagers have been indicted in the slaying of a 71-year-old Tennessee man.

The Leaf-Chronicle reported Wednesday that two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old were each charged in a five-count indictment with first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery in Teddy Cook’s death.

The indictments say they beat the Clarksville Super Suds Laundromat and Car Wash employee May 30 for $34 in change from a vending machine and the keys to his $2,500 truck. Video footage shows Cook being beaten with the butt of a rifle and kicked repeatedly.

Following Cook’s June death, prosecutors asked for the teens to be tried as adults in the case. A judge granted that request in August. It’s unclear if the teens have lawyers.

The Associated Press generally does not identify criminal suspects under age 18.
