MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Toxicology tests show blood alcohol levels for Christoph Kesterson and Collin Kilgore far exceeded the limit where you are considered too drunk to drive.
Both were seniors at Christian Brothers High School and were killed when their car went off the road and hit a tree along Reynolds Road in Collierville in February.
Kesterson had a blood alcohol level of .251, more than three times the legal intoxication limit.
Kilgore’s blood alcohol level read .119.
A lingering question is from where did the two teens get the alcohol.
Both also had traces of Xanax in their systems.
Collierville police found several cans of beer and an empty bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila in the trunk of that car.
CBHS released the following statement:
‘The Kesterson and Kilgore families remain in our thoughts and prayers as we continue to mourn the loss of their sons. Out of respect for their families, the school has no further comment.’
Police now say Kesterson overcorrected when he lost control, and slammed on the brakes before hitting the tree.
Many people hope the deaths will cause teens to reconsider drinking and spur a conversation between parents and teens.
