(Nashville, TN) Tennessee Department of Children Services announced Tuesday new changes to the department’s organizational structure to elevate child safety, health and programming.

News Channel 3 learned the Department’s Protective Services program, which oversees reports of abuse and neglect, will become its own division, called Child Safety.

A second division called Child Health will review fatality cases and there will be two new deputy directors in charge of the divisions.

News Channel 3 is one of several media outlets suing the department for access to public records about children who died in its care.
