MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Tennessee Department of Correction employee is now behind bars herself after she was arrested for driving under the influence.
Police responded to the a car crash Sunday on South Highland Street and Walker Avenue.
Officers told those involved in the crash to move out of the roadway for safety when they arrived at the scene, but Amanda Reed tried to start car car, even though it was damaged, according to the affidavit.
When police went to talk with her, they smelled alcohol on her breath and saw her eyes were bloodshot and watery, police said.
Reed told police she had had a glass of wine.
A BAC breath test showed her blood alcohol content was .18, above the legal limit to drive, police said.
Reed, 43, was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving and public intoxication.
A spokeswoman with the TDOC said she is on leave pending an investigation.
Reed is the second TDOC employee in the past few months to be charged with a crime.
LaShear Poole, a probation officer, was indicted in December on identity theft and wire fraud charges.
She was terminated in December, according to TDOC.
