MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Vice President Mike Pence will be joined by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee in Memphis on Thursday to talk about Operation Warp Speed and the state’s plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.
Operation Warp Speed is a program of the Health and Human services Department to produce and deliver 300 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine beginning in January.
Health officials in Shelby County say the vaccine should be available here beginning Dec. 15 and will be rolled out over a few months.
Getting COVID-19 vaccines to Tennesseans “is changing every minute,” but vaccines are coming to the state “within weeks.” Those words Wednesday from Governor Bill Lee moments after he got off a call about vaccine distribution.
“It’s complicated. It’s changing every minute because the information that comes to us from the federal government is changing,” he said. “As the understanding of the vaccine’s manufacturer, the quantities, the dates of distribution, those are all very fluid.”
