MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three burglars take off with thousands of dollars worth of hair extensions from a beauty supply store in Frayser, and it has the owner begging for your help to find the men who did it.
The hair heist at Beauty and Beyond on Frayser Boulevard was caught on surveillance cameras. Police just released pictures of the suspects.
The trio of thieves took nearly $9,000 worth of human hair.
“They went straight to the most expensive hair that we have at that location,” owner Mehdi Shoman said.
Shoman said the crooks took one minute to get in and out of the store last week, and grabbed all of the human hair.
The shelves now sit empty above the cash register.
“This is the second time doing it in the same month,” said Shoman, who owns three beauty supply stores in Memphis.
He said the guys hit his stores twice within weeks, taking $18,000 worth of weaves in all.
Both times, the burglars cut a hole in the back of the store. Employees think they are using special tools, because the wall is cement.
While MPD wouldn’t say if this was a growing trend, Shoman thinks these guys are professionals.
Each box of hair sells up to $140, but he said the thieves sell it on the street for a fraction of the price.
“It is expensive. There’s a good value in the market, and they can sell it really easy. You can’t track it of course, because it’s just hair,” he said.
Employees are begging you to take a look at the suspects, and help them solve the case.
As of Monday, police have not given any updates on whether the crooks were caught.
