Three-Dimensional Mammogram Better At Detecting Breast Cancer

(Memphis) A breakthrough in the fight to better detect breast cancer.

A new study finds three-dimensional mammograms are more effective for cancer detection and reducing false positives when used with traditional two-dimensional screening.

Researchers in Australia tested more than 7,000 women and found about a third of cancers were not spotted when just two-dimensional screens were used.

They only came to light after additional three-dimensional screens were used.
