MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three armed men are on the run after a deadly shooting in Orange Mound.
Police said two men were shot in the parking lot of the Save-A-Stop on Pendleton. One of them was hit several times and died on the scene while the other was rushed into surgery at the hospital.
Neighbors told WREG’s Melissa Moon both men are from the neighborhood and reported hearing dozens of shots overnight. There were so many that Jeffrey Brooks said he dropped to the floor.
“Like a war zone here last night. Like your were in an army.”
Brooks said the man who survived was shot at least seven times and is fighting for his life.
“He grew up on my street. I’ve know him since was.. you know.”
Authorities have not released additional suspect information.
According to Memphis police there have been 217 homicides this year with 240 of those classified as murders.
