MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Vehicular homicide charges have been filed in a Tuesday night crash at Comanche and Getwell.
Donna Dixon, 55, was killed, and a 21-year-old woman is in the hospital.
Police say the driver of a pickup truck, 25-year-old David Diaz, ran a red light and hit a Nissan Maxima driven by Dixon.
A witness said he was helping Dixon, who was ejected from her car, when he saw Diaz and passenger Alfredo Juarez run from the scene and into the Kensington Apartments.
Police found the two men and said Diaz appeared intoxicated and performed ‘poorly’ on a field sobriety test. Officers also found beer cans in his truck.
Diaz is charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, DUI, reckless driving, not having a license or car insurance, public intoxication and reckless endangerment to wit: motor vehicle.
Juarez is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Desmond Black, 27, who was driving the Maxima and was not injured, is charged with driving with a suspended license and not having car insurance.
