Timberlake’s New Album Sells More Than Expected in First Week

(CNN) Mid-South native Justin Timberlake has scored a major hit with his first album in more than six years.

The album is even bigger than analysts expected.

Many predicted the “20/20 Experience” would sell about 500,000 copies in the first week. According to Billboard, Timberlake nearly doubled that by selling 968,000 copies.

Only 19 albums have topped the 900,000 mark in their first week in the last 20 years. Two of those were ‘N Sync albums, the group Timberlake previously was part of.

It could be an even bigger year for the singer, who says he’s planning a second part of this album for later this year.
