Tipton County emergency crews say good communication helped them prepare for bitter blast

TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Some parts of Tipton County got three inches of snow.

The Emergency Management Director said his office was fully prepared to deal with the county’s first major weather event of the year.

Tipton County emergency crews spent the week preparing for the bitter blast.

The county’s emergency director said great communication between several agencies like the Covington Fire Department helped.

“Public Works Departments all across the county put their plan, activated their plan to be prepared for the icing, clearing of the roads, if trees were to fall, power companies prepared if we lost power,” he said.

Some parts of the county like Atoka got more snow than others.

The county’s emergency director said cities put plows on the roads early Friday morning.

Drivers competed with the snow, then the ice.

Now we’ll have to wait and see what they’ll have to deal with come Saturday morning.
