TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that an incident that was reported to them about men threatening a man on Old Memphis Road with weapons drawn, was a hoax.

WREG reported on the incident when the details were first released on September 8.

We were told the victim, Air Force member Blake William Kamerzink, 22, was driving down Old Memphis Road near Whaley when a white Jeep Cherokee pulled up and started harassing him.

He told investigators the four men inside had black bandannas over the faces and one of them pointed a gun at him.

The man didn’t contact authorities when the incident happened, but rather drove to the Covington South Fire Station to report it.

Deputies immediately searched the area but didn’t find any trace of the suspects.

During the course of the investigation, Deputies said they started noticing inconsistencies, and found out Kamerzink had made the whole thing up.

They told WREG there was a vehicle that had been following him, but no weapons were ever seen.

It was also discovered that Kamerzink had just been honorable discharged from the military.

He was arrested and charged with filing a false report.

His bond was set at $2,500, and he was scheduled to be back in court on October 13.
