MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tennessee Lottery officials held a news conference on Thursday announcing which Munford store sold the lucky Powerball ticket. Officials said they wanted to celebrate with Naifeh’s grocery store by presenting the business with a $25,000 check. With a smile on her face, the owner of the store said she was so excited for the state, the city of Munford and by the good the money will do for education. Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot of over $1.5 billion changed hundreds of lives. Three wining tickets were sold in Tennessee, California and Florida. In addition, eight people won $2 million and 73 won $1 million. More than 100 came away with $100,000. Tennessee Lottery officials said this was a record breaking week in sales. At last check, she said the lottery sold $60 million in tickets, with the record day being Wednesday between 5 and 6 p.m. During that time period alone, $20 million worth of tickets were sold in Tennessee gas stations and grocery stores. The winner of the $1.5 billion has still not been identified as they have not come forward to claim their prize.
