MEMPHIS, Tenn. — All lanes of I-40 are back open after an overnight accident involving an overturned tractor trailer partially shutdown the roadway.

It happened in the westbound lanes of I-40 by the 101 Connector.

It’s unclear what caused the big rig to overturn, but we know the accident forced authorities to close all but one lane heading westbound. This created a back up along I-40 heading westbound.

Around 5:30 a.m., several cars appeared to be involved in another accident just east of the first crash site near Watkins. One of the vehicles even caught on fire.

It’s unknown at this time if any of the drivers sustained any injuries.
