MASON, Tenn. — A train derailed near near the intersection of Liles Road and Old L and N Road in Mason, Tennessee on Thursday.
According to Tipton County Sheriff’s Department, around 4:20 a.m., a CSX train derailed while carrying nine loaded railcars with grain products.
Initial reports indicated that three of the grain cars were partially in a small creek.
“There were no injuries to the train crew, no hazardous materials involved and no danger to the public,” CSX said in a statement.

The company said shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday that the tracks had been cleared. Further details were released in a statement:
“The damaged cars were recovered from the creek and all cars have been cleared from the site. Crews are working to complete repairs to the small rail bridge that failed following a period of heavy rain in the area. CSX is temporarily rerouting trains and adjusting service. Recovery efforts will continue until the area is fully restored. CSX appreciates the swift, professional response of local first responders.”
The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
