WASHINGTON, D.C. — Newly elected Representative Trent Kelly will be sworn into the 114th Congress on Tuesday.
A private swearing-in ceremony with be held by the Speaker of the House John Boehner, and then another one will take place on the floor of the House.
The ceremony comes just a day after he was sworn in down in Tupelo.
Kelly defeated Democrat Walter Zinn in a June 2 special election runoff.
He will serve most of a two-year term that Republican Alan Nunnelee started early this year.
The 56-year-old Nunnelee died of brain cancer in February.
Kelly is a 49-year-old military veteran and was a district attorney for seven counties.
He was elected in the North Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District, which includes all of 21 counties and part of Oktibbeha County.
