Trial underway for woman who police say lured a man to his death

Ashley Carver

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The murder trial for the woman prosecutors said lured a retired police officer to his death got underway on Tuesday.

Shelby County Prosecutor Ray Lepone delivered his opening statement in the trial of Ashley Carver.

Lepone claimed Carver seduced Charles Jones, who she was having an affair with, to her home back in February 2012, knowing her partner in crime, Michael Dean, would be there to jump him.

Authorities said that after Dean robbed and shot Jones, he placed the body into the trunk of Jones’ car and drove to Jackson with Carver in tow.

According to reports, the pair told police once they arrived they burned Jones and his car.

Dean also admitted to two other crimes.

He told police he killed James Rucker and Melody Weddle in December on Claybrook.

Dean and Carver said they shot and killed Leonard Davidson, a Valero employee, in January after luring him to a home for sex.

No bond was set for either of them, and they could face the death penalty if they`re found guilty.
