Two detained after Whitehaven shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Police responded to a Whitehaven shooting that left one man injured Friday morning.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. in the 3300 block of Lucibill, they said in a tweet Friday afternoon.

Police said the victim was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition. Officers detained a man and woman, but investigators haven’t said why the victim was shot or if those two suspects will face any charges.

One neighbor who lives down the street with his four young children says what happened frightens him. He prefers not to be identified.

“I mean, you hear it right beside you,” he said. “I mean, you hear it a few doors down from you. Yeah. I mean, that’s frightening.”

He says he’s thankful his kids were in school at the time. He also says he hopes whoever’s responsible faces justice.

“Lock ’em up and throw away the key,” he said. “That’s what they need to do.”

Some neighbors told WREG they’ve heard gunfire at the home before. We’ll let you know if the two suspects officers detained are charged.
