MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two Memphis firefighters are recovering after battling an apartment fire in Berclair late Wednesday night.
The fire started around 11 p.m. at the Summer Grove Apartments on Summer Ave. near Perkins Rd.
Firefighters say there were two people trapped on the second floor, a woman and a baby.
The woman was able to safely drop the baby to bystanders, but it took firefighters to rescue the woman from the burning building.
There were no civilian injuries, but two MFD firefighters were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
One had some lacerations while the other was dizzy and disoriented.
Lt. Wayne Cooke with the Memphis Fire Department says both are going to be OK.
The fire damaged ten units at the complex.
So far, investigators haven’t determined the cause.
The Red Cross is assisting the affected residents.
