Two Memphians targeted in deadly Nashville shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville detectives are looking into a deadly shooting that left two Memphians shot.

According to Nashville police, a gunman started shooting inside the Cookout Restaurant at 1809 West End Avenue around 3:15 a.m.

Police say the gunman specifically targeted 19-year-old Ryan Weaver and 25-year-old Murray Gross.

Weaver and Gross arrived at the restaurant together with one other person.

The gunman chased Gross out of the building and into an alley behind the restaurant; where he shot and killed him.

Weaver is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Nashville Midtown Hills Precinct investigators believe the victims and the suspect were all acquaintances.

Weaver was wanted on outstanding warrants with Tennessee State University Police for aggravated robbery, aggravated trespassing, and evading arrest. The 19-year-old was accused of robbing an 18-year-old TSU student at gunpoint in January.
