SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County mayor announced Wednesday two new additions to his administrative staff.
Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr., appointed Martha Lott as Director of Community Services and Dale Lane as Director of the Shelby County Office of Homeland Security/Office of Preparedness.
“These professionals will serve in key roles with Shelby County Government. Both are well-qualified in their fields and have a passion to serve our community,” he said in a statement.
Lott, a former Memphis police officer, has served as general services director for Memphis since 2010, and previously served as the regional services administrator for the Memphis Metropolitan Planning Organization. She also worked as the grants manager for Shelby County from 1995 to 2004, and helped reorganize several departments. She has a B.S. in criminal justice from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Lott’s appointment must still be approved by the Shelby County Commission.
Lane, the chief inspector of the Shelby County Sheriff’s uniform patrol division and an adjunct instructor at Union University, will start his new role October 16. He’s been in law enforcement since 1987 and served in several leadership positions, including assistant director of the training academy and commander of the Sheriff’s Office Homeland Security Bureau, SWAT team, and bomb squad.
He has an M.S. in operations management from the University of Arkansas and graduated from the FBI National Academy, as well as the U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection and U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment programs.
