Two shot at Frayser apartment complex with a troubled past

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police towed away several vehicles from a Frayser apartment complex after two people were critically wounded in a shooting early this morning.

At least two of the vehicles had visible gunshot holes and one heavy rear-end damage.

Residents of the Ridgecrest Apartments on Rangeline told us they heard so many gunshots overnight they couldn’t count them and pointed to at least one bullet hole in a building.

You could also see were a driver ran over a fire hydrant and drove through the middle of a grassy area in the complex.

There have been several shootings at the Ridgecrest Apartments over the last few years including one last October.  In 2014 a Shelby County judge put gang members on notice if they were caught hanging around the complex they would go to jail.

Police haven’t said what led up to the shooting and have not released any suspect information.
