UPDATE, 5 PM: Police and Arkansas State Police are at a house on Poplar in Helena, where they believe Coley may be.

HELENA- WEST HELENA, Ark. — The Helena-West Helena Police Department and Arkansas State Police need help finding a man they say may have been involved in a homicide.

According to the Helena-West Helena Police Department, Paul Eric Amos, 29, was walking in the area of North 6th Street and Baldwin around 3 a.m. Wednesday when a white SUV pulled up next to him and someone inside fired a shot. Amos died in his own front yard, police said.

“He was a good guy, young and didn’t realize what life was about, or the person who shot him didn’t realize what life was about,” said Kurt Moore, the victim’s brother-in-law.

Amos was not only a brother-in-law but also a father.

“They don’t realize what a tragedy this is going to be for those kids,” said Moore.

The family is still waiting to learn more details, but one witness told WREG they saw that Amos was involved in some sort of altercation with a man and a woman prior to the shooting.

Helena-West Helena Police Chief James Smith said two people were detained and it’s believed that Amos knew both of them. They are also on the hunt for David Coley, 30, who they believe was also involved.

They warned he may be armed and dangerous. If you know where he is, call (870) 572-3441.

This is the third homicide this year in Helena-West Helena.
