Three Teenagers Struck By Lightning In West Memphis

(West Memphis, AR) Three teenagers were struck by lightning on Oxford Street in West Memphis Thursday night.

The teenagers apparently got caught in the rain, so they ran and stood under a tree.

The lightning struck them while they stood there.

Aisha Spates saw the three people huddled under the tree, “I see them across the street laying there and I’m like them boys out there playing in rain. Then, I could hear him through the house, ‘Help me, help me.”

Neighbors say police were there in minutes and began chest compressions until paramedics arrived.

At least one of the victims was talking, but kept yelling he couldn’t feel his legs.

The teenagers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
