SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — “It’s kind of scary,” Nadia Good said.
Wings and ranch dipping sauce were scattered along Peppermill Lane where deputies said a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver was robbed Monday night.
“They were robbing him at gunpoint,” Good told WREG.
Good said the delivery guy screamed as he ran away from the two who deputies said were trying to rob him: Darion Allen and a 17-year-old boy.
“He was just very — he was just very in shock,” Good said. “He was just like everywhere.”
Managers at Papa John’s told WREG their driver was not hurt and was doing okay.
Deputies found the door to the address the suspects gave to the driver kicked in, the home burglarized, and the men accused in the robbery inside.
“In that search we found the items of clothing that they were wearing, according to the victim, and also the handgun as well,” Chip Washington, spokesperson with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, said.
Deputies also found a Pizza Hut warming bag in the home that is possibly connected to another delivery driver robbery from the day before.
“Nothing like this has really ever happened. So when it happens this close it’s like — it’s really scary,” Good said.
“Wherever you go you keep your eyes open because unfortunately we live in a society where folks will take advantage of other folks,” Washington explained.
If found guilty, neighbors hoped Allen and the teenager will not have the chance to take advantage of folks again.
