MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men were arrested on Wednesday after stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from a local Marshalls.

Just before 8 p.m., police were called about two shoplifters at the store on Covington Pike.

When they arrived, an employee told investigators she had been watching video surveillance and noticed Frederick Johnson and Ashton Collins placing purses into their carts.

They then entered a stock room that had an “employees only” sign on it.

When she confronted the suspects in the stock room, they grabbed the purses and bolted towards the exit.

That’s where police stopped them and took them into custody.

The merchandise the men were attempting to steal valued at over $3,174.

Both were charged with theft of property over $1,000 and scheduled to appear before a judge on Friday.

Collins’ bond was set at $75,000 while Johnson’s was set at $40,000.
