MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) has released its review of the Memphis VA Medical Center.
The evaluation, conducted in November 2014, resulted in 27 recommendations across eight areas: quality management, environment of care, medication management, coordination of care, magnetic resonance imaging safety, acute ischemic stroke care, surgical complexity, and emergency airway management.
Six of those recommendations are considered completed. The rest have target dates for completion, all of which are on or before March 31, 2015.
The review also reports the Memphis VA opened “the first equipment processing center in the Veterans Health Administration for reprocessing non-critical reusable medical equipment and helping to develop the first advanced environmental control units for veterans with severe disabilities.”
