BATESVILLE, Miss.– The search for a double murder suspect came to an end on Monday.
Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies worked together to track down Quendarius Robinson, who has been on the run since police say he killed his girlfriend and her grandmother Friday night at their home on Church Street in Como Mississippi.
On Monday, Robinson was located at a home in Batesville, about 20 minutes from Como.
“I thought maybe he would try back to his daddy house. I didn’t know he was going to be close, I didn’t know that close!”
Roosevelt Govan said he got a startling call this afternoon.
“They called me and said ‘police is at your house,’ and I jumped in my truck and sure enough,” he said.
Como’s police chief said Robinson was arrested around 1 p.m. Monday.
Govan said Robinson was inside a usually vacant home on Martin Luther King Drive.
“Nobody was home. Nobody was home,” he explained.
Govan said his granddaughter was a friend of Robinson’s.
Robinson’s family lives next door.
His arrest brought some comfort to the families of his alleged victims.
“That was my baby and my mom,” said Eloise Jackson.
This rainy holiday weekend, WREG sat down with the women closest to the victims, Eloise Jackson.
She is Cerea’s mother and Emma’s daughter.
She is now caring for the two children Robinson and Cerea had together who family said were home at the time of the murders.
“You had two kids that you have taken away from their mother and a grandmother. Why didn’t you just think?”
Eloise said she knew the couple had been having problems and had even tried to talk to them about it.
WREG discovered Robinson was no stranger to the law.
We obtained court documents showing he was charged with aggravated assault last year after police said he shot and robbed a man.
He took a plea deal and is on probation.
Govan said as sad as the case is, he’s just glad Robinson surrendered peacefully and no one else was hurt.
“Could’ve been real dangerous. It could’ve been worse. Yes it could but I thank god that it didn’t happen that way.”
Moments before he was arrested enforcement located the car Robinson was driving on a rural Panola County road.
Police said it was Cerea’s and stolen from the crime scene.
WREG is working to find out if Robinson turned himself in or if police tracked him to the home in Batesville.
Robinson is expected to be arraigned this week.
