MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jeremy Lampkin, 25, died Sunday of an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

Police received a call about the shooting in the 600 block of Patterson Street at about noon Sunday.

Police said Lampkin had tried to intervene in a fight between the female resident of the apartment and her boyfriend. A struggle ensued, and the suspect shot Lampkin, police said.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The suspect, a 29-year-old male, fled the scene before police arrived.

No arrest has been made yet in this case.
