MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Soon, a federally indicted East Memphis doctor will reopen his medical clinic.
Ahead of that day, one of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar’s alleged victims said she hopes that patients take precautions if they decide to visit the clinic.
This comes days after attending and testifying at her former doctor’s court hearing.
She shared her story with WREG back in March.
She said Dr. Kumar’s treatment left her with pregnancy losses and incurable diseases.
A judge’s ruling now allows Dr. Kumar to practice medicine again in his previously-closed East Memphis clinic.

“I mean, you know, initially I was pretty disappointed, But, after hearing the judge’s side of things and why she ruled the way that she did. I think, you know, it was fair,” the former patient said. “This was not a hearing to determine guilt and I feel like she ruled according to the law and it was unbiased.”
Although Dr. Kumar can reopen his clinic, there are some rules he must follow.
For instance, all patients must be told about the charges against him.
His former patient told WREG the stipulations are comforting, but she still wants women to be aware.
“But, I just hope that they will really evaluate the media, what other people have said, what witnesses have said that have come forward and really take all of that in account, before they decide to go and put themselves at risk by continuing to be his patient or becoming his patient,” she said.
She also urged former patients of Dr. Kumar to request full-panel STD testing.
She told WREG that this healing journey has been filled with emotions, but she’s hopeful for future.
“I have faith in the fact that I think justice will eventually prevail, that the truth will come out and this isn’t over yet,” the former patient said. “You know, there’s still a trial and I think a lot will come to light and I just have faith that what is right will be.“
