CORDOVA, Tenn. — The video is sad for any animal lover to watch.

Adult geese were walking with five goslings across a Cordova street when a vehicle runs them over.

“I think it’s horrible! They have a right to live.”

Frank Inderbitzen’s security camera captured the whole thing.

“There were five goslings, and three of them survived,” he said.

Inderbitzen said he’s not sure whether the person ran the geese over on purpose or whether they were just distracted.

Memphis Police said if the person did hit the geese on purpose they could be charged with a crime.

Neighbors told WREG’s Katie Rufener they have a big problem with speeding near Hickory Path and Grandbury.

“There have been some people exceeding the speed limit, probably a little bit reckless, yes,” said one neighbor.

“The speed limit on our street is 30 mph,” added Inderbitzen. “We have a lot of people speeding through the neighborhood.”

Neighbors said it’s sad enough that the geese were hit, but they’re worried next time it could be a child if people aren’t paying attention behind the wheel.

“There are children on this street who come running out, and they don’t look out,” said Cordova resident Richard Carlyle.

“I’m an animal lover. I’m an animal advocate. But the kids, to lose a kid, that would be devastating to somebody,” said Inderbitzen.

Some neighbors also told WREG they’d like to get speed bumps through the area and see extra officers running radar to force drivers to slow down.
