MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Video of a man wanted for questioning for a deadly shooting involving a New Orleans firefighter was released by authorities Monday.
Gregory Howard was in Memphis for a first responder basketball tournament, and went to Mynt Lounge nightclub on Hacks Cross Road south of U.S. 385.
Deputies said at some point Saturday morning, a fight broke out over rap music.
Howard and other patrons spilled into the parking lot.
Deputies said two men then opened fire from 150 yards away and shot Howard in the head. He later died at the hospital.
According to the New Orleans Fire Department, Howard was a nine-year veteran of the department and leaves behind a wife, a ten-year-old son and two-year-old son.
“I always knew him to have a smile on his face. He was just one of those people you just really enjoyed being around, and he could life other people up,” said New Orleans Fire Chief Tim McConnell. “Just a life cut short. Way too early. Now, too boys. We’re going to circle around and take care of them.”
