NORFOLK, Va. — Instead of playing with her Barbie dolls, 9-year-old Gianni Graham chose to donate them to those who are less fortunate.

When she first started in January, she only had the five she had gotten as Christmas gifts, WTKR reported. When word spread of her goodwill, donations from around the world helped grow her collection.

In just two months, she exceeded her goal of 1,000 dolls.

“I never thought I would collect over 1,000 Barbies,” Gianni told WTKR.

And she’s not stopping there.

Gianni launched 1KBarbiesfor1KGirls.com to continue her cause and inspire others to do the same in their own communities so kids in shelters or foster care don’t have to feel so alone.

“I want it to make them feel that they have a friend to talk to and play with,” Gianni said. “When they are going through a hard time to make it easier.”
