Raleigh Wal-Mart evacuated after bomb threat made, police give all clear

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police searched a Wal-Mart Sunday after a bomb threat was called in to the store.

According to police, a fitting room associate at the store, located at 3950 Austin Peay Highway, said someone called her and said there was a bomb in the store that would go off soon. The caller then hung up.

The employee told her assistant manager, who then called police.

Officers, including K-9 officers, arrived at the scene and brought the shoppers and employees out of the store. They then checked the store for anything dangerous, police said.

After the search, the K-9s gave the OK for people to come back in, police said.

The ordeal took about an hour and a half from the time police were dispatched to the scene to when they determined the area was clear.
