Want a Covid-19 vaccine? Walmart is now offering appointments online

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Want a Covid-19 vaccine? Walmart has partnered with the federal government to deliver doses to dozens of states across the nation starting Wednesday.

“These are going very smoothly. We’re getting everyone, getting their paperwork filled out, and we’re observing them 15 minutes after we administer the vaccine,” said Dr. Alexis Dancy with Walmart Pharmacy.

One by one people at the Walmart Super Center on Elvis Presley Boulevard discreetly received their free Covid-19 vaccine. It’s one of 20 locations statewide and more than 150 locations nationwide that will be administering the vaccine.

Walmart officials said the majority of the locations in Tennessee are in Shelby County due to the growing need for the vaccine.

“Covid has wreaked havoc throughout Memphis and the Whitehaven area. So, this is our step to combat that,” said Dancy.

The company said it’s currently limited on supply. WREG’s Quametra Wilborn was told the Elvis Presley location for example will start out offering 20 appointments a day. That will then increase as time goes on.

Appointments will be scheduled based on availability and the amount of doses each store receives from the federal and state government.

Once a store receives its vaccines, appointments can be made through Walmart’s website.

Appointments are required and you must be eligible. Right now, only health care workers and those over the age of 75 can get the shot.
