MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The water is running once again at the Eden Pointe Apartments on Knight Arnold, but that wasn`t the case Thursday.

Residents are getting used to this because they say it`s the third time in less than six months their water has been turned off.

Having an operating bathroom and drinking water are basic needs, but the people who live at the Eden Pointe Apartments don`t ever know if they`ll wake up with the necessities.

We checked the records with MLGW and found out the management company was thousands of dollars behind, but they made a payment yesterday to have the water turned back on.

WREG knocked on the door at the rental office to ask the managers about the water situation, but no one came to the door even though their office hours say someone should be inside.

LEDIC Property Management runs Eden Pointe, and they never answered or returned our calls for comment.

Back in November, the water was also turned off.

Three months ago apartment managers told us they didn`t know about the past due bills, even though they were notified by MLGW.

Resident Rose Thomas is defending her landlords.

“You know it`s life. We have problems, but you know when you`re in a poor community you`re going to have problems. But you know they got it right back on. I`m satisfied. I`m straight,” said Thomas.

Other residents say it`s not just about the water but also unlivable conditions like this. There are also security concerns.

Even outside lights don`t work leaving it dark and dangerous for people who live at Eden Pointe.

MLGW says it tries to avoid cutoffs like this by sending out notices.

Almost two weeks ago a letter went out to residents in hopes of encouraging them to get their landlords to pay up.
