MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Victims in a double shooting in the Westwood area sent two people to the hospital in critical condition late Thursday.

It happened around 11 p.m. Thursday on Tonawanda Cove. Two victims were rushed to the Regional Medical Center.

One man had gun shot wounds in his face and leg, another in his stomach.

One victim was in shock and couldn’t tell police what happened, but the other victim said they saw a man in all black with a rifle pull up and open fire on their car as they turned around in the cove.

Officers found 13 spent rifle casings around the victims’ car. Inside, they also found a handgun and a bag full of white powder and a large amount of money in a bin.

A witness told police she saw two cars and an SUV parked near each other for several minutes. At some point, the occupants of one car began firing at the others, until two people got out of the SUV and began firing.

This is at least the third double shooting in Memphis just this week.
