TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — In Tipton County they warned people to stay inside because of the ice still left on the roadway.
Some drivers we spoke to said they are used to driving on snow and ice.
“I used to live up in Massachusetts. We call this a dusting at best,” said a driver.
Others were nervous.
“It was pretty bad this morning, a little slushy, clearing up now,” said Jeremy Pinner.
Looks can be deceiving.
Tipton County’s Emergency Management Director Tommy Dunavant told WREG crews will monitor the roads throughout the night.
“We know that we got a little bit more of the freezing rain than what was anticipated in Tipton County and then snow fell on top of that,” he said.
A lot of the side streets could become dangerous if puddles freeze overnight and turn to ice.
“That’s still a concern of ours. We know that there is a lot of ice and slush on the roads and it’s going to be cold tonight and to be honest with you, I look for the conditions in the morning to be worse than what they were this morning,” Dunavant stated.
So while the worst of the storm may be over, driving dangers may just be starting.
