MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis woman is in police custody after allegedly killing an 11-year-old boy when she hit him with her car.

Police arrested 26-year-old Sparkel Hastings for hitting and killing Joshua McDowell on Raleigh-Millington Road Saturday.

Investigators say Hastings was driving down Jones Road in a very erratic manner causing when she lost control and left the road.

Hastings also hit Darryl Howard who was taken to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Police say a driver’s license check showed that Hastings had a suspended license.

Hastings, who has a $35,000 bond,  was charged with reckless vehicular homicide and aggravated assault.
