HYDE PARK, Tenn. — Police say a woman shot at her husband when she found him driving his girlfriend’s car.

Alexie Coe is charged with aggravated assault and vandalism.

Police say she shot at her husband after discovering him in his girlfriend’s car, just a couple houses down from where she lives.

“I heard the shots yesterday,” one neighbor, who did not want to give his name, said. “I didn’t see who was shooting, but I saw the commotion. I came out and was ducking and dodging.”

Neighbors in the 2300 block of Dexter in Hyde Park told WREG shootings and domestic violence are nothing new there, but said what is new is who is doing the shooting.

“The women are starting to fight back,” one man said. “You all are rebelling and acting. So, what do you have to say about that America? The women are reacting. The women are buying all the guns now! ”

Police said Coe caught her husband driving his girlfriend’s car, while visiting a friend on the same block as his wife. They said she fired a shot at her husband, and when the gun jammed, she used it to bash out the car’s window.

Police did not find a gun at the scene and a gunshot residue test done on her hands came up negative, but they did find a spent shell casing and a live round.

While some neighbors said the man deserved to get caught by his wife, most agreed violence should not have been the answer, especially in a neighborhood full of kids.

“It’s scary any time bullets are flying around, because they don’t have no names,” one neighbor said. “They can hit anybody.”

Coe’s bond is set at $2,500. She is due in court April 1.
