MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A victim’s wife has been charged as police investigate the case of a man found dead in his home in the 4100 block of Cottonwood Road.
Police responded to the home Saturday.
A family member heard the victim’s phone ringing from behind a wall, and none of the calls were picked up, police said.
Police said they found the victim’s dead body stuffed in a plastic storage container in the attic crawl space. Also in the container were clothing, dirt, concrete mix and other debris.
Police identified the victim as Waddell Twilley. He lived in the home with his wife, Latosha Starks-Twilley, and their kids, ages 3, 8 and 11.
Starks-Twilley told police she saw her husband alive early that morning but could not explain where he was between when she saw him alive and when police found him dead.
She was charged with abuse of a corpse.
Investigators are still working to figure out how Twilley died.
Starks-Twilley has a criminal past, including arrests for aggravated assault, attempted second-degree murder and aggravated statutory rape. She was convicted on the rape charge in 2006 and placed on the sex offender registry.
The kids who were in the house are now with a family member, police said.
