MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman jumped off the I-40 bridge on Wednesday at 11:23 a.m., according to the Memphis Police Department.
The West Memphis Police Department says the woman parked her car on the bridge and then jumped into the river. She was found in the water by the MPD Harbor Patrol and taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The woman will receive a psychological evaluation, officials say.
The WMPD says a child is safe and with their father at another location. A family member later clarified that the child was not on the bridge.
The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office and the MPD are handling the situation.
