GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Germantown neighbors are looking over their shoulders after another brazen robbery.
A woman coming home Tuesday night around 7:45 came face to face with a man pointing a semi-automatic pistol at her.
The gunman demanded her purse, she turned it over and he took off.
“We are very quiet. This is the first time something like that has happened,” said Doug McPherson, who lives in Germantown.
It may be the first time in their neighborhood, but not the first time in Germantown.
Saturday night, a strikingly similar robbery left an elderly couple in fear after a gunman shoved them into their home on Great Oaks Drive and made them lie on the floor.
The robber took the woman’s purse and ran.
Germantown Police say two driveway robbers in three days are very uncommon.
They are trying to determine if they are linked.
Both suspects’ faces were covered, but the vehicle descriptions are different.
Saturday night the robber got away in an older model, blue and white pick-up truck.
Tuesday night, the get away car was an older style, black hatch-back, like a Gremlin.
In both cases the victims were in their driveways.
“We come home at night and obviously this guy was preying on a woman who was by herself. I said just beware and look over your shoulder when you come in the driveway. Look all around. I even told my daughter that too,” said McPherson.
Germantown Police are putting out a warning for residents to be aware of their surrounding and if they notice someone following them, don’t go home.
Go to the police department or to a fire station.
“I guess there is a lesson to be learned whether you are at the mall or in your own driveway, you better be looking over your shoulder and be aware of what’s going on particularly at night,” says McPherson.
The Germantown Police Department said there are no new leads on the robberies.
