MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman who was carjacked and kidnapped after a Levitt Shell event Thursday night escaped unharmed, but the suspects are still on the loose.

The woman, 25, told police she was sitting in her car around 9:30 p.m. near the Levitt Shell when a man pointed a gun at her, and told her to get in the trunk of her car.

The woman said the car took off and sped down Poplar.

“I just laid there praying,” she told WREG. “Within a minute, I found a lever in my trunk that I didn’t know was there. I pulled the lever, and the trunk flew open, and we were still on Poplar. We hadn’t gone far at all.”

The woman told police the suspects stopped and she jumped out of the trunk.

She said the men got out too and aimed the gun at her. She told them to keep her money and car.

She took off running, and the suspects drove away in her car.

The woman ran a mile to her friend’s house on Linden and called the cops.

“I’m always a trusting person, and I’m not going to live in fear now, but I will be more cautious,” she said.

Anyone who may have information on this incident or has seen the car, a blue 2006 VW Jetta with Tennessee license plate L1326U, should contact the police.

Levitt Shell said it had around a dozen security guards working Thursday night, and that safety is a top priority to them.
