MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man said his wife was sitting on their bed at home when bullets came flying through the window above her.

It happened on Overton Crossing in Frayser Thursday night.

WREG met Howard Williams as he was in his front yard with a flashlight in his hand, concentrating very hard.

“I was looking to see if I could find some shells,” he said.

Shell casings from the bullets that struck his car and windows.

“The bullets came in the house. A couple of them,” said Williams.

His wife was the only home at the time.

She ducked and took cover when she heard several shots.

“Somebody chasing somebody else and acting a [explicit] fool,” said Williams.

Williams is still trying to figure out what exactly happened.

He just heard from neighbors and officers two people were speeding through the neighborhood firing shots at one another.

“People just do stupid things, and they don’t think about the consequences,” he said. “They don’t think you’ve got innocent people out here.”

Williams said police came to his house, but left pretty fast since no one was hurt.

He said officers even told him to do his own investigating and call them when he finds the shell casings.

As of Thursday night, police have yet to say what happened.
